Intern Import Merchandiser

Your working hours will be Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm, Friday 8am to 3pm, 3/4 hour for lunch.

Project Brief
Eternity Clothing is looking for interns to initially understand our import and merchandising process. We are sure are fresh look on things will give you new ideas of improving our process and help us develop in the future to be more succesful in our merchandising department. You will get the opportunity to be dealing directly with customers, attending approval meetings standardizing size specifications with customers, and dealing with customer approvals.


You will have your own goals and tasks set out with your mentor. These are examples of tasks you might do in this internship:

1. You will be dealing with all factory, supplier and customer approvals.
2. You will be constantly monitoring the status of orders placed with factories, tracking and chasing approvals of fabrics, trims, labels and samples.
3. You will be communicating directly with factories and suppliers, and overseeing every stage of order production.
4. You will be archiving and recording samples in the sample room.
5. You will devise a critical path time line. We need to know time lines in order to achieve the customer’s delivery date. We need to devise a critical path with exact dates for our factory to follow accordingly.
6. You will deal with delivery times of customers and look for new and effective ways to deal with problems regarding delivery.
7. You will work alongside the shipping department and look for innovative ways to improve the shipping process.
8. You will deal with orders and the difficulties of having problems with orders. How to handle when for example goods are not being released etc.
9. Look for ways to ensure good customers relations when e.g. samples not match gold samples.
10. Deal with labels, wash instructions, make sure every little detail is correctly on the wash label.
11. Other tasks related to the merchandising process.
12. Other tasks related to Eternity Clothing.


Person Specification, Required Skills & Experience
• Excellent organisation skills essential.
• Educated at a fashion/clothing degree level
• Minimum of 3 years experience as an import merchandiser/garment technologist.
• Understanding of the fashion industry.
• Ability to categorize and record valuable information.
• Ability to measure garments to an accurate size specification relaying any quality faults or pattern. adaptations back to the supplier.
• Good knowledge of corel draw, microsoft outlook - email, microsoft word, excel
• Ability to manage sample sizing from development through to production.
• Garment and fabric costing knowledge.
• A self motivated hands on proactive approach.
• Ability to prioritize your workload.
• Ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines.
• Capable of working unsupervised and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills, which should be clear and understandable.
